Get involved with Area G
Service is important to our recovery, and there are a few ways you can help carry the message:
Join a committee: Help plan activities to attract those who don't know about AA and spread the message to those in treatment centres or correctional facilities.
Volunteer for service: Service can range from a one-time to a regular commitment. Please see 'Current Service Opportunities' below.
Apply for an open role: A range of area roles are available, which are longer commitments that rotate every couple of years. You can view and apply here.

Help carry the message into men’s and women’s prisons - and change lives. We’re currently looking for AA members with 2+ years continuous sobriety to help run meetings for inmates at the Long Bay and Silverwater correctional centres.
AA is celebrating 80 years in Australia in 2025, and there will be special events to commemorate this anniversary. If you are interested in helping, please look at the roles available on the host committee. To stay informed, sign-up here
The CSO on Elizabeth Bay Road is looking for a volunteer on Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoons from 1 - 5PM. This individual will help answer questions on the phone and those coming to purchase books and supplies at the shop. If you are available, please email sydneycitycsoconvener@gmail.com.
The H&I rosters need volunteers. Please carry the message and be on the H&I rosters. It is recommended that you have worked the twelve steps prior to this service opportunity.
AA Grapevine is collecting up to 7-minute-long stories from the Fellowship in the form of audio recordings. Share as you would in a meeting—or pick a topic of your own choosing, from making amends to working on a particular Step.
The Treatments Committee will continue to cooperate with Treatment Centres in Area G. Currently we have 23 volunteers on the Bridging the Gap directory from all over Sydney. We will continue to build the directory.
Wesley Ashfield has requested that a new A.A. meeting be held at their facility on Sundays at 6:30pm. We are cooperating with Wesley to get this meeting started.
Answer helpline calls from 6pm - 8am (18:00 - 08:00) on one night each month. This is done from home via direct call diversion to the volunteer's mobile or preferred landline.
